Sharing Our Journey

You are here

Do you work with older adults and/or the LGBT2Q+ community? Are you a senior in LGBT2Q+ communities, or an ally? Do you want to gather with other older adults and service providers to shine a light on issues facing queer and trans seniors?

People of all cultures and backgrounds are invited to join us as we launch a new Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Two-Spirit, Queer/Questioning (LGBT2Q+) Community Response Network (CRN) for Seniors! Our goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of queer-identified older adults, by working together to eliminate instances of abuse, neglect, and self-neglect. Join keynote speaker Dr. Jen Marchbank of SFU and facilitator Claire Robson of Kwirk-e for day of information-sharing and workshops. Participation is free, with lunch included.

"Sharing our Journeys" meets in the Youth Space in Sunnyside Community Hall at Bakerview Park, 1845 154 St, Surrey the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 through June, after which we'll take a break for summer. SOJ is an intergenerational potluck and informal discussion circle for LGBT2Q+ older adults (55+) and youth (13-24). Participants covenant together to be respectful and inclusive; and to maintain confidentiality so that we all feel empowered to share openly with one another. This is a terrific opportunity to make new friends, learn from one another, and grow more authentically into our sexual and gender identities.  For more info., contact Neil at or 604-535-0015 ext 236.
